Forsaken does not originate exclusively from the ranks of Chaos Warriors. There is LITERALLY nothing that prevents a Chaos Knight or a Chaos Lord from ending up becoming a Forsaken. 1 unit doesn’t break that theme and we all know that.Ī race can have more than 1 theme and playstyle. That forced asymmetrical gameplay is just plain stupid and a lazy excuse by CA to justify why they cut so many corners. Yeah having Forsaken for Tzeentch makes sense, but you can’t have them without Warriors. The real reason we don't have warriors is to preserve asymmetrical gameplay, you can disagree with this decision but its been done and isn't changing. If you want a lore reason, Warriors of Tzeentch are more prone to flesh-change due to their God being the God of mutation.

Later editions removed numbers and limited references, but Tzeentch is regularly described as having few champions but higher quality in his favored servants when compared to his siblings. There are multiple lore references in older editions about Tzeentch having less numerous but more powerful followers so in game this is represented by a sharp divide between high tier mortals in the two Knight units, and forsaken which is everyone else.įor a number comparison the idea of Thrall Sorcerer bands essential put the minimum winnowing rate as 1 success per 8 failures according to older lore (3rd edition I think).

Lots of people think they're cleverer than they are and Tzeentch's association with change and magic draws any many who would do better to stay away. Given Tzeentch's in lore tendency to favor magic user, have exacting standards, and encourage competition between followers with failure resulting in horrible mutation it's more just that worshiping Tzeentch as a warrior is hard mode.
